Bill,
The best place to start is right here in the forum. For a simple task, try
to build a CTK panel to execute an
existing macro that you have. The following will walk you through a simple
example:

1) Start Visual CTK, then: File, New, Panel. A window will appear titled
"PCS1"
2) Press "New" in this new window. Another window opens up displaying your
panel properties.
3) To keep it simple, just type in a name for your panel. Press "OK"
4) Now a blank panel will appear. You will now want to add an action button
(token) to this panel that will execute
your macro. From the row of token buttons at the bottom of your screen,
select the 6th button from the right; the
one that shows a plain rectangular button with slightly rounded corners.
5) As you move your mouse you will notice that a floating representation of
the button you selected will follow your
cursor. Move it over your open panel and click your mouse. Another smaller
window will appear. This will display your
token properties. Note that where ever you click on your panel, this is
where the button will go. Don't worry, the buttons
can be moved around by drag-and-drop.
6) Press "File Select" and go through your Windows directories to find your
macro, then select it. Then click in the "Label"
box and give your button a name. Press "OK". Your button will appear on
your panel. Move it's position by
dragging it with your mouse, if desired.
7) Now save your panel. File, Save As, click on "Save as type" pull down,
select "pcb", type in a file name, "Save".

To make the new panel accessible from Smartcam, find your application .ini
file. For Production Mill, it would be pmill.ini
1) Open your .ini file in Edit Plus
2) Find the section header: [UserMenu]
3) Add your panel as follows (leave out the quotation marks):
MenuName1="This will be the title that appears on your pull-down menu in
Smartcam-can be anything"
MenuPcb1="The path to the pcb panel you created. Include the name (Your
panel.pcb)"

Now restart Smartcam. Got to "User" at the top of your screen. Your new
panel should appear. If you press the button on
the panel, your macro should execute.

Give it a try, and post any questions you might have.
Good Luck!

Hi all,

I'm just about to launch myself into customising things using Visual CTK,
where can I get some help on this subject?

Regards,

Bill in the UK.
