I believe this method will renumber the steps only not the tools. We uses the same tool in several steps.
 
Therefore the total number of tools maybe not correct.

You could open the planner and delete all unused tools and then use renumber starting with one (1) and increment by ones. Then the last tool in the list would have the number you are looking for. Just save before doing so and not after. As the other person (Kelley Spinks) said you could make this into a macro by recording it the first time you do it. Hope this helps.

I am looking for a macro or some ideas on how to create one to do the following.
 
I would like to know how many tools are used in a particular program.
 
For instance the last project had 62 tools, this is a lot of counting manually.
 
It would be nice to run a macro that returns the number of tools used in the current program.
