When making reference to the G76 command I'm sure your talking about the lathe. The R does represent the taper parallel to the axes of the thread. The total Z axes move, the X should be moving at 1^47. away from the center line of the thread. For a Fanuc control external threads the R would be R- for internal threads the R will be +.

There are (2) G76 lines when cutting threads, what is the required fields for the second G76 line. I am cutting 3/4 - 14 npt internal.
 
In particular the "R" which represents the taper value. I'm getting different answers from different sources about this.
