you can create a .bat file that close the CTFMOM.EXE process before run SC.
It works fine for me and my programmers
like this:
taskkill /im ctfmon*
cd C:\SM9\SYSTEM
C:\SM9\SYSTEM\amill.exe

Michael,
A while back, someone on this forum gave an example of either a batch file
or a windows script file they used to kill the Ctfmon.exe file and start SC
all in one click. I searched for it but can't find it. Maybe they will
re-post??

Michael,
This worked for me:
Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages > Details.
Removed all installed services except English > Keyboard > US.
The geeks will tell you that even if there is an .0000001% chance that you
will ever need the services.
Regards,
Pete

Our MIS person came to my PC to go through a bunch of steps
as per a Microsoft's instruction document that they acquired
from somewhere off the net.
I do not have that article so I cannot say whether or not
it is the same one that you are referring to.
To make a long story short, it did not work and I MUST remember
to disable CTFMON.EXE after each re-boot of my PC.
When I get time I'm going to try and have Windows automatically
open a Word Document at startup, through that automatic startup
feature thing it has. In the Word document will be a big
bold reminder that I must disable CTFMON.EXE.

Importance: High
I tried to follow the Microsoft KB article 282599 to dis-able ctfmon.exe
but could only get thru step 1. The items described in steps 2 and 3 did
not exist on my system. Ctfmon.exe is still running on my system, but after
performing step 1 in the MS article, SC quit freezing up. ????
Sorry I'm not more help,

The disabling of ctfmon.exe worked for us using Windows XP, but our IT
geeks are telling us that we should not do this because ctfmon.exe is an
important feature that may cause MS Office products to Blue screen on us.
For me it's worth the risk, so here is the question, have any of you guys
experienced problems with MS Office Word, Excell? If yes, what kind of
problems, if no, please tell me that also so I show the IT geeks that in
the real world, it really isn't a problem.
