Amazing as it may seem, the set of protocols loosely defined as "Windows File Sharing" seems to be the most reliable way of doing transparent filesharing across a network, even when all endpoints are linux. Install Samba. Incidentally, this will be covered in the March meeting. If you want to give it a roll, there are many howtos out in the wild for NFS, Network File System, a solaris-borne solution. It was the standard way of doing things from the late 80s up until perhaps (personal opinion) 2002. -porkchop _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Dec 5 - Open Source Show and Tell Jan 2 - TBD Feb 6 - DBUS Mar 5 - Setting up a platform-independent home/small office network using Linux
