Hi, As an alternative to rsync, what about physicaly hanging one of the new drives off the old box to move the data? That will likly be much faster and it sounds like you have physical access to both machines.
Does the old machine have any spair drive slots of the new drive type or does it have usb2 or firewire? If so, that may be a way to go. The small (non-enclosure style) usb2 to ata/sata adapters are quite handy and not pricy. You may well be able to hang a new drive off the old box, copy the data, hang it off the new box, copy the data to the raid, then add that drive to the raid in much less time than it would take to send the data between machines with rsync. Just a thought. -Greg -- Greg Priest-Dorman [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Jun 4 - Sqeak! and eToys Jul 2 - KVM (Tenative) Aug 6 - Zenos Sep 3 - TBD
