I am surprised that nobody commented on this topic.

Perhaps I did not do my part. Perhaps I was lazy by providing just a
link, rather than typing a better explanation.

Anyone use Turnkey Linux, or have a liking to the idea?

There is a contest to create a new Virtual appliance using tools created
by the Turnkey devs (TKLpatch).

For those unfamiliar with Turnkey Linux:

Turnkey Linux is an open source project developing a free
virtual appliance library that features the very best
server-oriented open source software. Each virtual appliance is
optimized for ease of use and can be deployed in just a few
minutes on bare metal, a virtual machine and in the cloud.

Why? Because everything that can be easy, should be easy.

Packaging a solution as a virtual appliance can be incredibly
useful because it allows you to leverage guru integration skills
to build ready to use systems (I.e., turn key solutions) that
just work out of the box with little to no setup.
        (From the About page Turnkeylinux.org)

There was an irc training session to help explain the TKLpatch. You can
find the log here. http://irclogs.turnkeylinux.org/2010/July/%
23turnkey.2010-07-25.log.html#t2010-07-25T19:59:06

There were only a handful of participants on the irc channel. This
leads me to believe the number of contestants may not be great, thus
increasing the chances of winning the $500 top prize or one of the $300
honorable mentions!

So, call this a shameless bump... Anyone interested, or have suggestions
for an improved Virtual appliance, or a new one all together.

Again, my idea was to create an Ampache Virtual Appliance. I am just
not sure if it is too hardware dependent, or if the hypervisors are
limited, when needing hardware access to the sound card for
MPD playing as a jukebox/local mode.

Cheers,

Eric
