Consultant's Rule 1: If you don't charge them for it, they 
will think it's free and they will want more of it.

He is going to rope *you* into providing remote tech support 
for somebody (or two somebodies) who absolutely don't care 
about what you're trying to do.

It's free for him and expensive for you. What could possibly 
go wrong?

It will be worth four tanks of gas for *you* to buy the 
netbook / laptop / PC / whatever, set it up, and write DONE 
across the project.

My mother, at age 89, was doing email (and nothing else) 
right up to the end on a succession of Linux boxes. I set 
them up on my regular visits, did all the remote admin, and 
she was perfectly happy. This situation *can* work, but it 
took a lot of effort to get to that point.

Choose your battles carefully...
