There's an interesting tradeoff here, however, and I don't think enough data is out there. Like the laptop processors, going dual-core doesn't mean twice the power, since at the same time the power consumption and management features are improved. If the peak consumption of a faster processor is less than the peak of a slower, then you get a net savings when you push it. I've also noticed the power management on my dual-proc phone turning off the second processor when idle. Combine that with newer phones increasing the capacity of the battery, through 3 generations of android phones I haven't seen any significant difference in battery life between them. --
