I too switched to Fios not long ago, and noticed a big improvment over
Time-Warner. I have just had my hosts use Google DNS at 8.8.8.8 and that
has been fine.
But hunting futher I find that the router Verizon gave me gets its DNS
servers via DHCP, but you can change them by going to My Network ->
Network Connections -> Broadband Connection (coax) and then press
"Settings" at the bottom of the page. So I'll give that a try too.

I just got FIOS, and the download speed is great, gaming seems good so far
as well, and using NX to remote desktop is like I'm right at the machine,
very responsive. One problem I'm having is that DNS requests seem very
slow. I click on a link on a webpage and have to wait a second or two
before things start downloading. Makes the whole thing seem slower. Have
any other FIOS users had the problem? Is the solution OpenDNS? Do you set
up OpenDNS on each of your machines or do you set up a separate machine that
you point all your computers to?
