There's a free benchmark utility to measure the speeds of various DNS servers
available at http://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm. Run it & pick the fastest
- no muss, no fuss.

  Subject: [mhvlug] FIOS and DNS

I just got FIOS, and the download speed is great, gaming seems good so far as
well, and using NX to remote desktop is like I'm right at the machine, very
responsive. One problem I'm having is that DNS requests seem very slow. I
click on a link on a webpage and have to wait a second or two before things
start downloading. Makes the whole thing seem slower. Have any other FIOS
users had the problem? Is the solution OpenDNS? Do you set up OpenDNS on each
of your machines or do you set up a separate machine that you point all your
computers to?
