I have about 300 cds, audio and video that a friend wants to copy
onto his hard drive. After putting easytag on the back burner, I
looked at the actual .flac and .ogg files, and the song titles are
all in there in a simple format.

Doing it yourself is pretty easy as well, given there are a lot of good libraries that encapsulate the parsers.

I've used this previously - http://ruby-mp3info.rubyforge.org/ which I think works on FLAC as well.
