I worked at a Ford dealer for a while as a lot monkey. I much preferred
driving the automatic Festiva to the Mustangs. With the Festiva, I was
driving flat out all the time and it didn't bother other drivers at all.
When I drove the mustang, I got a reputation...

Actually, our 3 cylinder 1L Chevy Metro was kind of fun to
drive. I screwed up when I sold it years ago ($250). I'll probably end
up buying it back now for $4000.

I think people don't understand that a Miata weighs 20%
more than what those older econoboxes do. 65HP won't be any fun in a
Miata.

                FWIW,
I was going to swap in an LS1 and just found a really
low mileage Vette! (way off topic but click on the link for a good laugh
- or to be amazed at the find)

Since gas spiked over $3/gal a year ago I get
lots of emails from my site about the process to retrofit a 1.3 Festiva
engine in order to get 40+ mpg. I know what needs to be done and what
parts need to be fabricated. SOHC. 65 hp. 5000 max rpm . Once someone
drives a low reving 65 hp engine surely they will be disappointed. The
best 96/97 Festiva engines are 11-12 years old now and finding a good
used one can be tough. Is there a real market for a $200 retrofit kit?
