Thanks guys. I'll try to comment on each of your points.

Chris, your foam suggestion reminds me of one of my efforts I forgot to 
list - I cut a piece of sponge and wedged it in between the afore 
mentioned lock rod and again, that helped for a while, but not a 
permanent fix.

Brad, I'll pull the panel and check again, but the last check last fall 
showed nothing loose with the regulator. I'll make the other checks you 
suggest during that same inspection. The speakers are tight, but I have 
developed an occasional buzz from the large speaker in the right door 
(my '01 is a LS series with the Bose system).

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll post an update after I've pulled the 
panel again. Don't you just love that butyl rubber caulking on the 
clear seal?!?
