I got 8 stands too, a full set of normal sized stands about 15" tall and a set of the TALL stands from Sam's Club which I can set close to 21" high safely. Trust me, that extra 6" is night and day difference when wrenching on under there.
I just use the small stands to raise the car up enough to slip the big stands in, and I just take my time doing either side (Left or Right) of the car, and keeping difference in height less than 2 notches at any given time till I reach the desired height. As for driving the car up onto 2x4 blocks so the jack can slip under there, I think Costco sometimes carries an aluminum jack that clears a lowered car fine, atleast it does on mine, and a lot of ppl consider my car pretty low. :) -Thuwa -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Chuck Wills Sent: July 24, 2008 11:13 AM To: Matthew McKay Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: Quality Jackstands? I always use 4 jackstands, and then slide some spare wheels or concrete blocks under the car to keep me from being crushed if one of the stands slips or fails. I don't like the 2 jackstand thing at all. I've got several kinds of stands laying around... I think my most recent purchase was from Harbor Freight. So far, so good! :) -Chuck Matthew McKay wrote: > Hey everyone, > I'm looking for some quality jackstands for my NA.
