Hey all,

With late fall upon us, I've started driving my OTM more often. For those
that don't know, it's a beat-up '99 Civic DX with about 174k on the clock. I
had the timing belt and a motor mount replaced over the summer and have
driven it maybe once a month on average since then. When I was going to take
it
in to the job, the car had been making a high pitched sound at idle and when
the car was moving that would come and go from time to time. The noise seemed
to be coming from the area of either the water pump or timing belt area.
Strangely enough, the noise completely died on the way to the shop and didn't
come back...until now. Now it's louder than ever and really has me worried
considering that the Miata won't get driven much (of course, the Miata is most
likely either in need of a clutch master or slave soon...).

Any guesses what the noise could be?

-Bryan

Does it make the sound only when the engine or the ambient temps are colder?

Does it do it only when it's raining?

When, specifically (If Possible), and under what conditions do you
experience the sound?

Is the sound more of a shriek or does it include and whirring or rubbing?
