In the meantime does anyone have any good reason(s) why I shouldn't try a
product like Holts Radweld _http://www.holtsauto.com/products/index.html_
(http://www.holtsauto.com/products/index.html) (it's under maintenance) as a
temporary fix?

I'm not familiar with this product, but if it contains any solids, it could
possibly clog coolant channels, leading to considerable misery... If it's
entirely liquid, then you might try it if you suspect the problem is the
radiator. If your coolant is a bit old, why not flush and refill with a
coolant
that contains a sealer? The sealers in antifreeze products are generally
solids-free and unlikely to cause unwanted clogging.
