old FM internal wg actuator

Anybody have any experience with the old internal wg actuator that FM  
provided/created a replacement for? I got one free and found that it  
rises to 5psi immediately and the proceeds rise another five psi over  
the next 3k rpm. This was running the signal straight off the  
compressor. Am I wasting my time with this thing? thanks, Rob
