Exactly and isn't even a little egotistical of us to think we as humans can
actually affect global warming/climate change to the degree that is being
claimed vs. nature changing the climate??

In Ray's example all those ice packs melted way before humans can be blamed
for doing it.

Honestly, I don't think it will settle anything for one simple reason: lack
of historical perspective. There's no way to know how things were in the
same detail we have now a hundred or even 50 years ago. That of course
ignores the fact that geologic time considers 50 years to be miniscule at
best.

You guys have been talking about the US pretty much exclusively (one guy

mentioned Australia). What about all the scientists in all
 the other

countries that agree that humans have an effect on climate change? Do you

just ignore them because you can't vote for them?

The IPCC report was a CONSERVATIVE estimation of climate change. It may

be as it suggests, it may be much worse than that.

The truth is, humans do a lot of little things that add carbon to the

atmosphere. Things as simple as tilling soil can have huge impacts on

releases of carbon.

Interestingly NASA has plans to get a carbon sniffing satellite up in

orbit so it can directly view large scale carbon emissions from space. It

will show regions where carbon is produced and regions where carbon is

absorbed. It will also illustrate where we've (humans) have altered how

that happens.

So it will clear up the debate a little, dont you think?
