Amsoil gave me free synthetic for an entire season in my SSC Miata. Never had a problem. I've got it in my boosted street Miata now, no problems. And I ran their synthetic auto trans fluid in my Lexus and it dramatically improved the shifts. I think it's a good value if you know a dealer and can get a good price on it.
