That's the thing, I can personally get the better Amsoil stuff (not the
XL series) for cheaper than RP or even Mobil1 (which isn't even real
synthetic anymore).  So I was thinking might as well go that route.

Amsoil gave me free synthetic for an entire season in my SSC Miata.  
Never had a problem. I've got it in my boosted street Miata now, no  
problems. And I ran their synthetic auto trans fluid in my Lexus and  
it dramatically improved the shifts. I think it's a good value if you  
know a dealer and can get a good price on it.
