It depends in part on how you drive and partly luck. The VLSD in my
wife's Voodoo II Miata is working just fine, Bill's lasted for around
80k on his 1990 and was still working when it was pulled. Some people
stick with it due to cost (replacing a damaged VLSD is about 15% the
price of a Torsen swap) or class regulations. STS autocrossers, for
example.

Anyhow, I wouldn't throw one away. There are definitely people looking
for them.

I'm a 1.6 guy and that VLSD is the first thing I blew up after
installing my FM2. But it should be worth something to a NA car.

They're still worth money. I think we've sold a VLSD
(which is usually be working after 100k, despite what the internets say,
they just never had much limiting ability) for $150 or more, and 1.6
guys still search out the R&P.

Thanks Chad. I didn't think it was like the
94-97 diff, but wanted to be sure before scrapping it.

Is there any value in the interior plastic
panels behind seats? Anyone need them after removing a rollbar? What
about the carpet. Its in fairly good shape (loop carpet in black). Still
have top frame, used seats, wiring harnesses and a few other
miscellaneous pieces I am leaving in unless someone has interest in
them. The suspension arms are rather rusty, so I am going to skip
pulling them.

                        All other items available cheap.

Any suggestions on best way to get rid of a
stripped Miata carcass?

If it wasn't an open diff when it was
new, it's open now. Those diffs used a VLSD rather than a torsen and
the LSD wears out over time.

                                I have the transmission.driveshaft out
and cleaned up. Not sure if the Diff is worth pulling or not. Its a 1990
(original) and I assume its not a limited slip. The car has the power
windows/cruise packege, but I don't think there is anything other than
an open diff in 1990. Can someone confirm?
