The engine internals are the same for the 2006 MT and 6AT.

The engine internals for the 2007 are now the same as the 2006.

The engine internals in a 2008 are different from the 06-07. The 6AT
internals are also different from the MT internals.

The engine internals in a 2009 are different from the 06-07 & 08. The 6AT
internals are also different from the MT internals.

If it were my car, I'd go with 06 or 08 parts. Those are known good parts.

Stephanie, I don't mean to suggest anything about the quality of the tune.
As OEM ECUs get smarter, they may be able compensate for what a piggyback
ECU does. Since Piggys effectively "lie" to the stock ECU or intercept its
commands and change them, I was concerned that the stock computer could have
trimmed the extra fuel out.

800 miles of tuning says the ECU did not "outsmart" the Xede. Experience
tuning 12 NC's says the Xede was not "outsmarted". Seriously?

I will look up info on the motors and let you know.

So.. were there differences in the 2.0L engines between manual and auto
trannies? If he orders one from a manual car, can the parts be swapped or
are we hosed?

How can we be sure that the XEDE wasn't outsmarted by the stock ECU, causing
a lean condition? Once I get the motor out I'll get lots of pics, so
perhaps we'll just have to wait on that one.

Chad,

Go with the 2006 motor, if you can find one with an auto tranny. If it came
off of another NC, it will be a direct swap. If you end up having to get the
Duratec 2.0L Motor out of another car, then there might some converting to
do. But not a whole lot.

Having swapped NC motors before, you will not find many issues. It is pretty
straight forward and easy enough to do. Be careful taking the CAM sensor
off. It breaks very easily.

I am working on an engine swap on a 2007 GT Automatic with a BEGi S3 kit
installed. The engine blew up under boost.

Some of the research I've been doing suggests that one of the other years'
engines may have stronger internals. Is this true? If so, what year should
I look for in the wrecking yard, and will there be any issues adapting that
engine into a 2007 chassis?

Worst-case, I'll just get another 2007 engine, but if the 2007s have weaker
internals, I'd not want this car to suffer the same fate.

Thoughts?

I need to know soon, since we need to get the replacement engine ordered
within the next week or so.

Thanks!
