An important consideration is foundation. If you don't have concrete
footings poured already then a 4 post is probably a better option.
IMO a 2 post requires a good thickness of concrete and supporting
footing to be safe.
My buddy has a 16,000lb 2 post lift in his home shop. Sometimes we
work on 2.5ton trucks (Deuce and a halfs). The foundation was poured
accordingly, though.
I've seen shops with 2 post lifts where the concrete is cracked. When
I see that I run from that shop.
Proper anchoring is important, too. Do your homework.

I often see lifts for sale when shops close down. You can get a good
deal on a used compressor and lift if you are patient and search for
closing shops.
