I do agree on Runs and Noses but then again I wandered away from
mainstream popular music long before they appeared on the scene. The
Beastie Boys, Rock & Roll uh no. I disagree on Donovan however. In the
late 60s he was a very well known act and second only to Dylan and
Peter Paul and Mary in carrying the Folk torch in that era. He was
friends with and influenced a large diverse circle of musicians - Jeff
Beck, Beatles, Stones, etc. and was a disciple of the Maraharishi
Mahesh Yogi. (He is the guy with the hooka in "My Dinner With Jimi).

Rock & Roll is a diverse media umbrella where sound styles get
pigeonholed into genres, typecast into segments so that record stores
knew where to put/how to market a particular artist. The R&R Haul of
Business seems to have little to do with the music and more to do with
the money.

Not knowing who got in before and (not going to look either) my RRR
Hall of Fame would include: Beatles, Beach Boys, Kinks, Dave Clark 5,
Yardbirds, Herman's Hermits, Who, Donovan, Turtles, Frank Zappa and
the Mothers of Invention, Doors, Blues Project, Jimi, Rascals,
Hollies, Searchers, Animals, Lovin' Spoonful, The Mammas & the Papas,
Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Jan & Dean, Moody Blues, Todd
Rundgren, Spirit, The Nice, Soft Machine, Jethro Tull, Emerson Lake
and Palmer, Yes, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Caravan, ELO, XTC,
Parliment/Funkadelic
