here.  Only one of the sites I use for info is archived, so I had my
son, Nicholas, copy and paste all the other data from my other sites

1964 – The Who perform at the White Hart Hotel in Acton, London.
1966 – Simon and Garfunkel record "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" at
Columbia Studios in New York City.
1969 – Elvis Presley begins a month-long residency at the
International Hotel in Las Vegas.
1970 – Jimi Hendrix plays in his hometown of Seattle for the last time
at Sicks Stadium.

1977 – Elvis Costello is arrested outside the London Hilton Hotel for
performing songs while a CBS Records sales convention goes on inside
the hotel.
1980 – The first Monsters of Rock festival is held at Donnington Park
in Leicestershire, featuring Rainbow, Scorpions, Judas Priest, April
Wine, Saxon and others.
1994 – Jerry Lee Lewis settles a $4.1 million tax debt by promising to
pay the IRS $560,000.
2000 – Oasis is booed off the stage when Liam Gallagher insults the
audience of 35,000 at the Paleo Festival in Switzerland.
2006 – The final episode of Top Of The Pops is filmed.
2007 – Klaxons frontman Jamie Reynolds breaks his leg stage diving
during their set at the Garden Nef Festival in Angouleme, France,
forcing the cancellation of their Australian tour.
2008 – Paul Anka marries his second wife and personal trainer, Anna
Åberg.
2009 – AC/DC's Brian Johnson appears as the "Star in a Reasonably
Priced Car" on the BBC television program Top Gear.

are "the only two guaranteed hit makers" in music.
1956 – Pat Boone records "Friendly Persuasion (Thee I Love)" at

western act to do so since Louis Armstrong in 1964.
2002 – Mariah Carey checks herself into an undisclosed hospital
suffering from “extreme exhaustion,” denying reports of attempted
suicide.
2004 – Courtney Love is sentenced to 18 months in rehab after pleading
guilty to being under the influence and breaking into her boyfriend's
home in an incident the previous year.
2006 – Prince's second wife, Manuela Testolini Nelson, files for
divorce.
2007 – KISS performs as a trio when Paul Stanley is rushed to a
hospital before a show in California with a pulse twice the normal
rate.

Aaron Bell (2003) – Age 82. Jazz bassist with Duke Ellington and Dizzy
Gillespie.

1957 – The Crew Cuts appear on The Ed Sullivan Show.
1964 – The Beatles play two shows at the Johanneshovs Isstadion in
Stockholm. During the first show, both Paul McCartney and John Lennon
receive mild electrical shocks from ungrounded microphones.
1965 – The Dave Clark 5, Jay and The Americans, The Nashville Teens,
Roy Clark, Terry Black, Billy Preston, Donna Loren, Mike Clifford, and
the Blossoms all appear on Shindig!
1966 – James Brown appears at The Apollo Theatre in Harlem.
1971 – Charlie Pride records "Kiss An Angel Good Morning" at RCA
Studios in Nashville.
1979 – The 14th World Series of Rock concert takes place at Cleveland
Stadium, featuring Aerosmith, Journey, AC/DC, Scorpions, Ted Nugent,
and Thin Lizzy. The event is marked by violence outside the stadium,
with five shootings (one fatal), eight robberies, and numerous
incidents of theft, vandalism and gang violence.
1980 – The Dalymount Festival takes place in Dublin, featuring The
Police, U2 and Squeeze.
1983 – Dennis Wilson marries cousin Mike Love's daughter, Shawn Love.
1991 – Nearly 100 people are arrested during a riot at an MC Hammer
concert in Penticton, British Columbia.
1993 – Roger Waters marries his third wife, Priscilla Phillips.
1994 – The Lollapalooza Festival takes place in Molson Park in Barrie,
