Backstage, John and Paul are asked if they have any extra songs, and immediately go off into a corner and finish one of Paul's latest tunes called "I Wanna Be Your Man." 1964 – Rod Stewart makes his first recording, a cover of Sonny Boy Williamson's "Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl," with his group, The Hoochie Coochie Men. 1965 – Beatles manager Brian Epstein begins negotiating with ABC-TV for a Beatles cartoon series, bearing the name and caricature images of the group. 1967 – Eddie Fisher, Petula Clark and The Young Rascals all appear on The Ed Sullivan Show. 1967 – Elvis Presley records the Jerry Reed song “Guitar Man” at RCA Studios in Nashville. Reed plays guitar on the session. 1969 – Two films by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Self-Portrait and Mr. & Mrs. Lennon's Honeymoon, premiere at the New Cinema Club at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. Two people sit in a white bag on stage during the event, leading everyone to believe that John and Yoko are present, and in the bag. 1973 – The BBC bans The Rolling Stones’ song “Star Star” because of its repeated “star fucker” lyric. 1974 – The New York Dolls split up. 1975 – Bob Dylan appears at WTTW television studios in Chicago for the taping of The World Of John Hammond, a PBS Soundstage special. 1977 – Bing Crosby invites David Bowie to appear on what turns out to be the last of Crosby's annual Christmas TV specials, suggesting they sing a duet. 1982 – The Talking Heads perform on closing night of The Warehouse in New Orleans. 1991 – Nirvana releases their debut single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” b/w “Even In His Youth” in the U.S. 1996 – British music biographer and former Editor-in-Chief of Melody Maker, Ray Coleman passes away from cancer at age 59. 1996 – Wal-Mart bans Sheryl Crow’s second album because of the song "Love Is A Good Thing," and its lyrics, "Watch out sister, watch out brother, watch our children as they kill each other with a gun they bought at the Wal-Mart discount stores." 1998 – Mac Davis receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 1999 – At a party in New York, Paul McCartney loses the cap on his front tooth that was installed in 1966 after a moped accident in December 1965. 2001 – Jamiroquai singer Jay Kay pleads not guilty to assault charges after being accused of hitting a photographer and destroying camera equipment outside a London night-club. 2002 – Chris Cowey, the man behind the UK's longest running music TV show, Top Of The Pops, accuses record bosses of controlling the singles chart with marketing scams, claiming the chart lacked credibility and was “full of crap records.” 2006 – The Browns reunite for a hospice fundraiser in Russelville, Arkansas. It’s their first appearance together in their home state in 40 years. 2007 – Pamela Anderson’s two husbands, Kid Rock and Tommy Lee, are involved in a fist fight at the MTV Video Music Awards. Lee is ejected from the event, and Rock is cited with misdemeanor battery. 2008 – Peoria, Illinois renames Abingdon Street Fogelberg Parkway after the hometown soft rock icon.
