1928 – Duke Ellington and his Orchestra record “The Mooche,” with Baby
Cox on vocals.
1928 – Ben Pollack and his Park Central Orchestra - which features
Benny Goodman and Jack Teagarden - records “Forever” for Victor
Records.
1956 – Elvis Presley re-records “Love Me Tender” for the movie’s film
score. He is then summoned to re-shoot the ending of the movie after
test audiences react negatively to Presley dying at the end.
1956 – Little Anthony and The Imperials record Neil Sedaka's "The
Diary." Sedaka is so displeased that the songwriter later decides to
record it himself, resulting in his first chart hit.
1958 – Private First Class Elvis Presley arrives in Germany, where he
will be stationed for the next 18 months.
1960 – Sam Cooke records "Sad Mood" at RCA Victor's Music Center of
the World studios in New York City.
1962 – The Beatles sign their first management contract with Brian
Epstein. Paul’s and George’s fathers sign for their sons since they
are still minors.

1991 – Michael Jackson’s white crystal-beaded glove is stolen from the

1993 – Wilson Pickett is sentenced to a year in jail and five years
probation for hitting an 86-year old man while driving drunk.
1994 – The Daily Mirror in the UK prints a photo of Michael Jackson in
a scoutmaster's uniform along with five young Boy Scouts, much to the
chagrin of the Boys Scouts of America who state that Jackson has never
had an association with the organization.
1998 – John Fogerty receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
1999 – Scottish child singing star Lena Zavaroni passes away at age 35
after battling anorexia nervosa for 22 years. She weighed 70 lbs. at
the time of her death.
2004 – Ms. Dynamite (aka Niomi McLean-Daley) turns herself into London
authorities and is arrested for assault for an incident that occurred
outside a London restaurant on September 17.
2004 – The Lord Mayor of Melbourne officially re-names Corporation
Lane as AC/DC Lane, in honor of the veteran rockers.
2005 – Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty is arrested for drug
possession when police raid their tour bus after a show in Shrewsbury.
2007 – Radiohead's official website crashes after the band announces
that their new "In Rainbows" album will be available only online.
2007 – The Spice Girls’ reunion concert sells out in 38 seconds.
2009 – The L.A. County coroner releases his findings on Michael
Jackson’s autopsy, stating that the singer was in relatively good
health at the time of his death.
2011 – After 28 years together and two grown children, KISS’ Gene
Simmons marries Shannon Tweed.
