1958 – Army Private Elvis Presley is promoted to Private First Class.
1962 – The Beatles record their first BBC radio show for the program
The Talent Spot at the BBC Paris Studio on Regent Street, where they

1963 – Elvis Presley’s 13th movie, Fun In Acapulco, opens in theaters.

1976 – Brian Wilson is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live,

Beach Boys, who are also in New York, are furious when Brian appears
without them.
1981 – The British phonographic industry, backed by musicians like
Elton John, Cliff Richard, and 10cc, place advertisements in the

1981 – A concert scheduled at the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, Florida
by The Allman Brothers Band and The Grateful Dead is cancelled when

Nicks and 50 Cent.
2006 – Cliff Richard loses his battle to extend the number of years
that musicians can receive royalties for their records when an
independent review board rules the terms will not change. Richard
wanted copyrights to last 95 years rather than the present 50.
2007 – Singer Pat Boone undergoes partial knee replacement surgery at
Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
2008 – U2’s Bono strikes a deal with the Starbucks coffee company to
donate a percentage of their sales to help fight the spread of AIDS in
Africa. The deal will run till January 2, 2009.
