after finding out about Jerry Lee's marriage to his cousin, Myra.
1958 – Perry Como records his second version of “Kewpie Doll” at RCA
Studios in New York City.
1960 – Duane Eddy records "Because They're Young” at United Recording
Studios in Hollywood.
1960 – Barrett Strong re-releases his single, “Money (That’s What I

1974 – Former Janis Joplin manager, Albert Grossman, is awarded
$122,000 from Joplin's insurance policy after proving Joplin's death
was an accident.
1977 – The Slits make their stage debut, opening for The Clash at the
Roxy in London.
1982 – Shadows Of Knight lead singer Jim Sohns is arrested in Chicago
for distributing cocaine. At trial, he will be found guilty and
sentenced to three years in prison.
1983 – Joni Mitchell plays the first night of a 13-date tour of
Australia and New Zealand at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney.
1986 – Jay Black, lead singer of Jay and The Americans, files for
bankruptcy, claiming $900,000 in debts and assets of only $750. The
debts are mostly from back taxes.
1991 – Janet Jackson signs a $40 million three album deal with Virgin
Records.
1993 – Oasis records their first demos at the Real People's Studio in
Liverpool.
1994 – The Supremes are awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
1995 – Van Halen kicks off their 131-date Balance World Tour at the
Pensacola Civic Center in Florida.
1996 – Following the success of their Anthology sets, the three
remaining Beatles are offered $225 million for a reunion tour. They
decline.
1997 – Paul McCartney is knighted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham
Palace.
2002 – Connie Francis sues Universal Music Group for $45 million in
back royalties, and for allowing the use of her songs in hard core sex
scenes in several movies.
2005 – The front door of Ozzy Osbourne's childhood home in Birmingham
goes up for sale on eBay because the current home owner is fed up with
fans defacing it. Ali Mubarrat, who now owns the house on Lodge Road
in Aston, says over the years the house has become a pilgrimage
destination, and that he was auctioning off the door and giving the
money to charity.
2009 – Heavy metal group Iron Maiden's tour manager Rod Smallwood
criticized the more than 100 people who were arrested for trying to
gatecrash the band’s concert on March 7 at Simon Bolivar Park in
Bogota, Colombia, in a statement posted on the band's website, saying,
"We abhor the inane behavior of a small minority of people outside."
Riot police fired tear gas canisters at those who tried to enter the
concert without tickets.
2010 – Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty is fined £500 and banned from
driving for 12 months after admitting to allowing his manager to use
his car without insurance. Doherty's manager, Andrew Boyd, was
involved in a hit-and-run accident that left victim Chris Corder in a
coma with "catastrophic" brain injuries. Boyd was already in jail
during Doherty’s court hearing.
2011 – Former singer for Iron Maiden, Paul Andrews, is jailed for nine
months after pleading guilty to eight counts of fraudulently claiming
unemployment benefits of more than £45,000.
