1998 – Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood and 11 others are rescued
when their boat engine catches fire off the coast of Brazil moments
before the craft explodes.
2002 – Marilyn Manson denies claims that he’s responsible for the
death of a woman after a party at his mansion in 2001, when Jennifer
Syme died after her Jeep Cherokee hit three parked cars. Her mother,
who is suing the singer for wrongful death, claims Manson was
negligent in "instructing the woman to operate a motor vehicle in her
incapacitated condition.” Manson countered that, "After Jennifer was
sent home safely with a designated driver, she later got behind the
wheel of her own car for reasons known only to her."
2003 – NBC airs the television special, Cher: The Farewell Tour.
2006 – After several cancellations in 2003, The Rolling Stones finally
make their stage debut in China at a one-off show at the Shanghai
Grand Stage on their A Bigger Bang Tour.
2008 – Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty is jailed for 14 weeks for
violating his probation and for using drugs. Doherty had been given a
suspended jail sentence for possession of drugs and driving illegally
in October 2007.
2008 – Classic Rock magazine publishes their Best Live Acts of All
Time poll, with Led Zeppelin topping the list, The Who coming in
second, and AC/DC taking third place.
2009 – Camden, New Jersey Mayor Gwendolyn Faison renames Mulford
Street as “Leon Huff Way” in honor of the city's native son and
legendary songwriter/founder of Philadelphia International Records.
