1967 – The Jimi Hendrix Experience plays the first of three nights at the

1969 – The day after the Apollo 11 lunar landing, *Duke Ellington* and a 
portion of his band perform a 10-minute composition on ABC-TV titled "Moon 
Maiden."

1969 – The Beatles begin recording "Come Together" at Abbey Road studios.

1973 – Detroit declares the day "Mary Wilson Day" in honor of the member of 
The Supremes.

1973 – The Buxton Rock Festival takes place in Derbyshire, featuring Canned

1982 – Queen begins the North American leg of their Hot Space World Tour at 
the Montreal Forum in Canada.

1983 – Diana Ross performs in Central Park in New York City, but the 
concert is halted by torrential rain. The show is re-scheduled and 
continues the next day.

1988 – As part of his sentence for his notorious drug and getaway spree 
earlier in the year, a South Carolina judge orders James Brown to put on a 
concert to benefit police and children's charities. Brown complains to the 
press that the state is trying to get a free concert out of his misfortune.

1990 – Roger Waters and special guests perform The Wall in Potzdamer Platz in 
Berlin at the site of the former Berlin Wall. Artists appearing with Waters 
include Scorpions, Bryan Adams, Cyndi Lauper, Paul Carrack, Thomas Dolby, 
Garth Hudson, Tim Curry, Marianne Faithfull, Sinéad O'Connor and others.

1990 – Madonna plays the second of three nights at Wembley Arena in London 
on her Blonde Ambition Tour, with the show broadcast live on BBC Radio 1. 
Following the concert, the BBC is forced to apologize for Madonna’s filthy 
and profane language during her show.

1994 – Oasis makes their live U.S. stage debut at the New Music Seminar at 
Wetlands in New York.

1995 – A Los Angeles judge throws out a lawsuit filed against Michael 
Jackson by five of his former security guards who allege that they were 
fired after learning the "truth" about Jackson's nighttime visits with

appearance, is opened to the public as a tourist attraction.

2008 – The Police and Elvis Costello play the first of two nights at the

2008 – Amy Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is sentenced to 27 
months in jail for assaulting James King at Macbeth's pub in Hoxton in June
