Been working on getting that radio station license, Filed with the CRTC [Canada's version of the FCC] in June 2012. File officially opened for public consumption and input in October 2013, All interventions, pro and con, filed by November 4th, 2013. Hearing held Decber 5, 2013. The 'verdict' will be announced any day now. So I've been recording programming for the station in 2 song files for 3 years now. Why? I can mix songs together better than a radio station computer. You know...the way they USED to do it on 'free-form' FM radio back when grey was just a colour...not the state of our hair. Because I want to avoid becoming predictable many key songs are recorded in 2, sometimes 3, different files with something else accompanying it. Plus with 1000s and 1000s of files...nothing will get played more than once every 3 weeks or so. And then...in a different day part. Don't expect to hear 'Stairway to Heaven' more than once a year. [Led Zeppelin OR Neil Sedaka.] Seems that Brian's site is impenitrable. Can't conjour up a message board at all. I try about once every 4 or 5 months. I see people still pissing on cousin Mike when I check HIS site. [not that he ever does] Lucy and I were away for much of the summer....early June to October...doin' stuff that needed to get done at some property we own elsewhere. Then I was laid up with a severe sinus infection from New Years day til just the other day. Wicked shit that. Anyway I'm no longer working for the TV network up here. Last contract ran out last May. New owners. All the voice guys were replaced at virtually every one of their various TV holdings. Shit happens. Apparently an income doesn't though...hence the radio station. Just so you know...I recorded a 60s file this afternoon...'Spirit of America' and 'Drive My Car'. [Boys/Fabs] It ain't all 60s stuff mind you. I also recorded Stand or Fall [Fixx] and Life In the Fast Lane [Eagles] both LIVE versions for a special ALL LIVE music feature which will run all day long about 3 maybe times a year. Different stuff every time. Loads of fun. Love the chance to be creative and prepare programming for the 45 and older crowd [prime target 50 - 70]. Anyway that's me in a nutshell. Never stopped thing of you...or here for that matter...but constant updates would tend to get boring in a New York second...or two. Once I get an approval for the license it'll be nose to the grindstone building studios, equipping them and erecting the transmitter. I hope to be up and running, staff in place, by sometime in August/September. I'll supply a link for listening when it's all a GO. Mind you if the CRTC denies our application...I'll be back to cry a little instead. Ain't no guarantees. [although I continue to pay taxes and I've decided on cremation] Really thought the Beatle thing last night was quite well done. After suffering through a very, VERY shitty Grammys show I didn't expect much. Only 2 quibbles. I thought John was somewhat under represented. I also thought that Sunday stroll through 'Revolution' was a bit [a LOT] of a miss. Anybody here like Joe Bonamassa? I think he's GREAT. Lucy and I went to see him in Toronto in November 2012. I have purchased a bunch of his material since discovering his talent about 25 months ago. Thank gawd for that issue of Classic Rock magazine which featured him on their monthly cd. I have 2 new grand children to report. One of each. Max and Aria. Great stuff. My oldest dog...Clyde...coming up on 14...a mix of Sheppard and Lab...is drawing up close [too close] to the finish line. Sad. He's been a loving pal for a whole heap of years. Hope he lives long enough to hear those dogs do Jingle Bells next xmas season on the radio. I ain't bettin' the 'rent money' on that though. No vacation this year. Want to be here when the radio thing is announced...and as some of the guys we honour here once said..."the funds 'aren't' too cool." Gotta save it for the upcoming task at hand. That's it from me.
