> > Well t...I am, in fact, so Canadian after all. Should be a very cool > listening experience. It won't be the same format all day and night, 7 > days a week. There'll be a show every day at 10:00am for the seniors [say > those 70 and older]. There'll be a specific country show, covering > yesterday and today, at noon 'til 3:00 Monday through Friday [except > holiday Mondays] plus a 4 hour country show Sunday mornings at 6:00. Every > night, 7 nights a week, it'll be a classic rock based show from 7:00 until > 3:am. This will include new and newer releases which fit and sound great > alongside the true classics. LOADS of album tracks and excellent songs > from people who never cracked the top 40. > The majority of the rest of the time it'll be a cool pop, rock'n' roll, softer rock mix...again with about 25% of the material being lp tracks. There'll always be a significant number of forgotten favourites and songs banned by conservative radio. I'll even toss in the odd jazz track if it fits and other instrumental pieces as well. Everything from Blue Jay Way to Apricot Brandy-Jessica to Buried Alive in the Blues-Buzzsaw to Swingin' Sheppard Blues. The repitition factor will likely be one of the widest currently available as there is NO point and no need to burn out a core library. The MAIN musical focus will cover 1966ish to 1984ish but there will be plenty of older and newer music as well. Usually charts will only be used as a suggestion...not a guideline. There are many hits past and present which just don't fit. Quite a few more didn't, and won't, stand the test of time. Then there are the tunes which didn't necessarily 'make it' which over the long haul still sound great and therefore will make it. The basic premise? "Playing the songs you expect to hear...plus all the ones you should..." No burnout gonna happen here. You can only pick up 4 other English language stations up here. 2 of them play almost the same music. The highest testing genres by a country mile are Classic Rock [43%] and Country [41%] . Everything else including current top 40 comes in with single digit percentages. I'll leave that shyte for the existing stations and give the adult population [which is just over half od the total] something which they actually WANT to hear. It's been fun to prepare. The real reward will be improving the quality of life a little for the folks who live up here. And don't kid yourself...there are plenty of younger folks who'll 'dig' it too. Looking for hip-hop, rap and music made for videos...'cause the musical side of it obviously just ain't there? Keep moving...there's nothing to see/hear here.
