IMHO, everything went as planned....mind you, it was the Filthy Lucre Tour. They announced the tour, but when they did, they said *right upfront* , before the first note was played at any show, that it was to be close-ended, and would finish in August. They actually added enough shows so the the UK could have some, extending the original plan by about month. As early as June, it was known that Mike was booking "his" Beach Boys for shows in late September. As you know, NOBODY can fire anybody from The Beach Boys...Brian, Alan, and Michael are all equal partners in BRI (along with Carl's kids, I believe). Dennis' shares were sold to pay his debts. I don't think David & Bruce are involved business-wise.
At any rate, September comes, the announced, close-ended tour ends....but BEACH BOYS COMPLETE SUCCESSFUL TOUR doesn't sell papers, MIKE LOVE FIRES BRIAN WILSON does. And sentimental fans somehow forgot the details of the closed end contract....there was a lot of "You can tell they all really still love each other" comments on the Bloo, but personally I think they just love the money. It boils down to...Mike makes more money by himself (with Bruce). On Tuesday, November 25, 2014 4:04:52 PM UTC-5, Lee Marshall wrote: > > WTF happened to the 50th anniversary tour?
