Where do you want to add this feature? If I understand correctly this function has to be called every few seconds.
Anyway - I am actually in favour of such an "call constantly" slot somewhere since I'd like to add support for the button on my cam.
And as long as it is only for ov9650 sensors the performance problem doesn't concern me much.
