I disagree about libv4l. userspace does not have access to the device. But that is vital for Vasily's patches.
Remember that Vasily's patches don't manipulate the image stream we get from the device - they rather make the device give us a brighter or darker image stream.

I think Hans is also working on software autoexposure, so libv4l is a good target If it was left to us, we would do everything in kernelspace ;-) Last time we discussed software autoexposure, I tried your patches with 627b and got very grainy/noisy video, so figured, we can add it, but it must be a module parameter, or at the very least not enabled by default. I'll try your new patches again this weekend, is autoexposure working to your satisfaction? -JoJo On Tue, Nov 25, 2008 at 6:11 PM, Vasily Khoruzhick <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:This feature is not image processing (it doesn't touch image bits at all), and it uses hardware-specific features (i.e. YAVG register of sensor), so I think it can be included in kernel driver--~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Lets make microdia webcams plug'n play, (currently plug'n pray) To post to this group, send email to [email protected] Visit us online https://groups.google.com/group/microdia -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
