Hi Friends, Thanks to Microdia I was able to adapt to Linux my VP-EYE web cam as OC 45 6270 using driver sn9c20x with Mplayer,Ekiga,Kopete and to some extent Amsn.A web cam finds most use on VOIP and Voice,Video Conferencing applications.Ekiga hasn't reached usage levels of Skype and Amsn has no present ability for voice transmission.Skype in its Linux releases doesn't find a place for common use web cams when it comes to image transmission, though work around to use a simple webcam like Logitech Quickcam Messenger is possible.Being a newbie (though and old one) I cannot claim to be very valid in this ,my newbie, geek and guru friends may enlighten me if Microdia is capable of this. The point of this mail is to request through this forum that the next important task would be for the Microdia community wisemen to find a work around to adapt Microdia friendly web cams to use Skype at least in a manner achieved by the Quickcam ,if it has not been done yet.If it has then a handout be released provided it will not infringe the rules of intellectual property rights and so on.I hope to be able to find your views and comments in this regard in the next few days. Thanks ,regards.kesava--~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Lets make microdia webcams plug'n play, (currently plug'n pray) To post to this group, send email to [email protected] Visit us online https://groups.google.com/group/microdia -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
(And I was told I write to long sentences ;) .) Anyway I extracted this as the problem description from your mail: " In this image quality varies eg,rolling image, blueish image etc. "To identify the source of these problems I need a few more pieces of information.
1. Are you using USB 1/1.1 or USB 2.0?
("$ lsusb" will tell you.)
2. Please post the output of "$ dmesg | grep sn9c20x" after you tried to
capture video from your webcam with skype.
3. Which version of libv4l are you currently using? 4. Please post a screenshot of the image the webcam provides. Thank you. GWater
