Rob:

Your data is quite incomplete, you are not saying what is power you are
getting from the system you have built.
Also, please define the water volume that the water source has ( dry and wet
seasons).

With a 50 mm pipe and 18 meters head you may get around 100 watts or so with
an alternator.

If you have more than 2.25 liter/second available then you may increase the
power by the ratio of the available volume to 2.25 l/s, if a change in
piping diameter is made, the power will vary :
4 inches ( 100 mm) pipe will produce around 620 watts if the water volume is
14 l/s
6 inches ( 150 mm) pipe will produce around 1800 watts if the water volume
is 40 l/s
8 inches ( 200 mm) pipe will produce around 3800 watts if the water volume
is 85.3 l/s

Of course this is a fast estimate

If the Car alternator Type is changed for a AC Brushless generator the
output power for the 200 mm would be around 5900 watts since the efficiency
is much greater.

So tell us what you have then one can tell you what you may get from your 18
meter head stream.

Regards

Nando
