     Just remembered this site, the wheel is a bit smaller, but you may be able 
to see the pictures on this one. Same principles though.

    What I love about the design is (and I am not sure if the builders of these 
on both of the sites got this) is the maximum amount of pressure created is 
when the wheel is going very slow compared to the flow of the river. At that 
point the impact is the greatest and the wheel is "lifting" the greatest amount 
of water in the spirals to create columns of water to make pressure. This is 
different than the mechanical undershot wheels, where a compromise must be met 
between the power of the impact and the output of movement.
