Portable ram pumps
Would those experienced with ram pumps please comment on an idea that has
been presented to our group?
That is the use of ram pumps to start the growth of large numbers of
trees in areas where there is not enough rainfall to start them naturally just
by planting seedlings.
Perhaps a portable ram could be moved from place to place along a valley
with a suitable stream to run the ram pump and use drip irrigation to water the
seedlings perhaps once a week. Maybe they could be fed through the system as
well with liquid plant food.
If this was practical it might make it possible to plant large areas very
efficiently where it would be impractical to carry the water from a stream to
the seedlings. I think there are many areas that could benefit.
