Hello Martin,
I know that rams were used extensively in Europe
for a number of years. It would be interesting to know
why they were largely abandoned. Any ideas?
There was a book years ago that listed rams as one
of the 55 most important inventions of all time. Now
few people have heard of them. Why?
Our interest in ram pumps comes from the fact that
we think that rams have the potential to help more
people and open up more unused land to human use than
just about any other machine--especially in places
like Bolivia.
Yesterday we once again came close to revolution over
Bolivia's gas and oil, something I doubt that many
people outside Bolivia even heard about.
This is a battle over energy.
In many areas the ram pump is the only practical way
to pump water. Microhydro is the only form of
"alternative energy" for which machines can be
produced locally.
I will send you pictures of our 2 Inch Model Ram
Pump. Ram pumps come in many shapes and sizes. We
designed this one to be made in a small shop with
locally available materials, while not sacrificing
quality or longevity. All the functioning parts can be
replaced in minutes. We supply an extra impulse with
every machine.
All the best,
Ron Davis
