That's odd. The MySQL RPM places the socket in this directory since
at least 3.22.21 to the best of my knowledge.

No, not currently. Midgard-lib uses the mysql client libs that have the
default place for the socket built-in. Have you reconfigured mysql to
place the socket there?

Your best option will be to rebuild the sources using the SPECs for the
RPMs, I guess. Best pick up 1.2.5 while you're at it.
