In httpd.conf I have:
MidgardDatabase midgard midgard f1xed
I thought, the Monster package installs a default directive in httpd.conf?

It seems like you don't have any MidgardDatabase directive in your
httpd.conf...
Try to put this line into your httpd.conf:
MidgardDatabase your_db_name your_db_username your_db_password
instead of the old one.
My config contains no MidgardUserName nor MidgardPassword, and it works well
with the only MidgardDatabase above.
