I've had similar problems. What exactly is RaQ. What I did was edit the 
configure file itself and bypass an if statement that it seemed the script 
was choking on.


it's some kind of eval test statement

I'll assume the ':' on the end is a typo.

try ./configure --with-mysql=/usr instead. The directory you supply

ISTR that the configure process uses the environment variables, and
that the build process uses the --with suplied parameters.

I've done this 2 times. At the time it turned out that (for reasons
unknown to me), (re)moving the shared libmysqlclient and running
ldconfig before the build (and optionally restore the situation later)
fixed things for me.

Naah. I've come to the conclusion that the RaQ is custom-built to make
Midgard hard to install.
