I'll test this later but in theory;
Within a sitegroup, create a group and a user, make the user a member of
the group. Create a topic and assign ownership of the topic to the new
group. Reauthenticate as the new user and attempt your write permission
tests from there.
I think this should work, I'll try to test but am running late. Maybe one
of the others can chip in.
