Subject: [Mifnet πŸ›° 74056] Re: Age 67

When looking through the papers so far submitted for the ICAO 42nd Assembly I'm
pretty sure I saw a paper proposing age 67. As you can guess a quick look back
didn't help me find it again but I'll keep looking. I think it was from one of
the observer groups (not IFALPA I would bet) which means they'd have to get a
State to support the idea. Presumably the United States at least. The Assembly
wouldn't endorse the proposal, just send it to the Council for added discussion.

It might not be a slam dunk since I got the impression that others are sick of
talking about the subject.

Cheers

The age 67 issue is up and running again. Years ago when the retirement age
rose to 65 older pilots were a higher percentage of the unions. After so many
years into this hiring boom the younger ones have far greater power. As a
result none of the union leaderships are in favor of age 67. Airline
managements don't like the idea either.
