Kay Chau commented on MIFOS-2929:
---------------------------------
From Ryan on how this is implemented:
Jakub and Kay,
I think that trying to have each of the fields for a family member optional is
overly complex and we should leave those as is.
What we should have optional is whether they need to add a family member or
not. So if we set Mandatory/hidden fields for that, it would apply to the
whole set of fields.
There are also two scenarios at play
Option 1 - Family Details are turned off in configuration
- this means on the first page of the client application, we ask for
spouse/father information (which is basically - relationship, first name,
middle name, last name, second last name)
- Option should be to have this be optional or mandatory and if hidden, it
hides all of those fields.
Option 2 - Family Details are turned on
- The father/spouse option does not appear in the UI, instead, a second screen
appears where they can add family options. Here, it would be helpful to make
this mandatory or optional. It doesn't make sense to have this hide the whole
screen, because if that's what the MFI wants, they would just not turn on
Family Details.
Here's the breakdown, as I see it
If ClientInformation.AreFamilyDetailsRequired=False, then:
- Spouse/Father information can be mandatory or optional
- Spouse/Father can be hidden
If ClientInformation.AreFamilyDetailsRequired=True, then:
- Family details can be mandatory or optional
Does this make more sense?
Thanks!
Ryan

> Not all MFI's have reasons to record family information for clients, or as in
> the case of KMBI, they are using family information for enrolling family in
> insurance.
> Family information should be completely optional in mifos, but for the
> regular spouse/father field and the family details fields.
> To keep it a mandatory field, it should become configurable.
