Although I'd love to agree with you and keep this simple, unfortunately the MFI's that I've seen have their operations very much like GK's and the current implementation of the holiday concepts. Even within Musoni Kenya where everyone can theoretically just repay over christmas, new years etc we make sure no repayments fall due on those days .
And also from the other MFI's we work with on the Mifos X platform they are actively using this functionality already, because they are still largely paper-based and want to align group meetings with their clients. Even an MFI that has their clients come in to repay will reschedule because they can't come in on these days.
So from our perspective this is just a concept that is required (and also delivered by almost all of the other systems I've seen).
