Vishwas Babu A J - can you get Jananidhi Co operative Bank to confirm that the type of savings products they are on about are 'certificate of deposits' / term deposits style savings accounts. As binny says, these are bit different to the presently existing 'passbook' style or 'demand' savings accounts.
The current implementation of savings uses END OF DAY BALANCE and supports both average and daily balance methods. This JIRA issue is actually about implementing ability to support different interest rates based on some condition to do with the balance. i.e. if using average balance, then depending on average balance for interest period, x% interest rate is applied. (gold >10000 = 8%, silver > 7000 = 6%, bronze < 5000 = 3.5% etc), if using daily balance then the daily balance is used to determine what interest rate is applied.
For the Jananidhi feature we should use https://mifosforge.jira.com/browse/MIFOSX-667 and change the issue name to say support Term deposits.
In their case you could just set up different products for the senior citizen and 'women and children' and 'everyone else'.
On the UI there can be two different screens from demand deposits and term deposits On the API if need be and advantage to it we can create 'term deposit' and demand deposit specific apis On the database level they should use the same tables to capture information.
